A strong earthquake was recorded near the coast of Ecuador on Saturday, March 18. Its amplitude is 6.9 points on the Richter scale.

According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center, the magnitude 6.9 earthquake occurred about 80 km south of Guayaquil. The epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of 10 km.
There are reports of devastation in the coastal region of Guayas following the aftershocks.
There is still no official information on the victims, but according to unconfirmed data, four people may have died.
Several aftershocks were also reported in neighboring Peru. Their magnitude was 4.8 points.
We recall, on March 18, a new earthquake that occurred in southeastern Turkey after the devastating earthquake of February 6.
Earlier, a major earthquake also occurred in Turkey on March 12.
