British intelligence believes that Russia is preparing to send in new mobilized troops.
Britain’s Defense Ministry said on Saturday that Russia should raise the age of conscription to increase the number of its troops.
Thus, according to the British intelligence services cited by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the deputies of the Duma (Russian parliament) presented a bill aimed at changing the age bracket for compulsory military service for men.
Currently, these are young men between the ages of 18 and 27. With the law that the Duma would like to approve, this mobilizable age group would affect men between the ages of 21 and 30.
If the law is approved, these new troops could be mobilized as of January 2024.
Russia had already decreed the mobilization of 300,000 recruits by the end of September 2022, bringing the total number of Russian soldiers in Ukraine to close to 500,000 people. Since the beginning of the year, the Russian army has regularly denied information about a new mobilization that could affect 500,000 men.
