The Bordeaux Court of Appeal confirmed this Thursday the referral to the High Court of three former FC Grenoble rugby players involved in a rape case in Mérignac (Gironde) in 2017, according to a judicial source.
The investigation room confirmed the accusation issued on June 12, 2019 against the Irishman Denis Coulson, 28 (passed by the American Carcassonne during the 2019-2020 season), the New Zealander Rory Grice, 32, and the Frenchman Loïck Jammes , of 27.
The three are accused of having raped, in a meeting, a 21-year-old student on the night of March 11-12, 2017 in Bordeaux.
They had met her during a drunken evening after a match against Union Bordeaux-Bègles and, according to her, they raped her in the hotel where they were spending the night. The players assure on her part that the young woman was spoiled.
The magistrates also confirmed “the presence of sufficient charges” to refer two other former Grenoble players, New Zealander Dylan Hayes (28) and Irishman Chris Farrell (29), to the Gironde Criminal Court for “non-prevention of crime” .
